Is Your Facebook Page Working? 6 Tips to Improve.

Clients often tell me, “I used to get a lot more from my facebook business page, now I don’t”.

Improve Facebook & Other Social tips

Simple Tips to improve your facebook page reach & results plus other social media sites.

The time to mourn facebook as a free medium is long past. While it is true that it is one of the best vehicles to reach out and touch someone right now, the truth is that you need to put money into that effort in addition to a strategy to get action from those posts so you can get eyes where you want them. Here are a few tips on adjustments you can make to improve your results:

  1. First I want you to check your set up and see if you are listed as the right organization type. if you want donations and you are non-profit, set the page as that type of business and not as another designation. Then you can add a donate button and get donations right from your page. If you have a store, set up as a store and you can reap the benefits of that type of page so you can get sales right from facebook.
  2. Read your about section and see if your keywords are listed in your company description. If not, add them. No one searches for number of years in business but many people start their description with that information. What really matters in descriptions is keywords so if someone does a search on facebook they will find the product or service that you provide and a link to your page.
  3. If you have a popular personal page and you are posting there as well as your business page, you should be pointing folks to your business page and asking them to like it. That allows them to see what you post there and be able to comment on it to their friends (who are not your friends) and point to your business (public) page. Otherwise posts are only seeable by their friends and if they are not your friends they cannot see the post friends are commenting on.
  4. Boost your posts that are popular but don’t expect facebook to push traffic to your website unless you set up ads to do so. Facebook wants people to stay on Facebook, so your posts that point elsewhere are best pushed out using a paid facebook ad that is set up to be paid on the basis of sharing that external link. Boosts typically help get people to like your post or like your facebook page.
  5. Advertise to your customers or the target market for your facebook page. Facebook can put your ad in front of consumers with specific targets such as male, female, people who have visited your website, people who are in your customer list.. even if they have not liked your facebook page. So if you have an event or product or sale, demographically profile the person who is most likely to say yes and put ads in front of them the next time they login to their facebook page.
  6. Upload your customer, donor, or volunteer list and ask those folks to “like” your company’s page. That is one of the quickest ways to increase your likes. Also keep in mind that facebook is only showing your posts to those folks 2-15% of the time, so you will need to add some money to your efforts to reach those individuals and grow your fans on facebook.
